INUDECO focuses on real world applications; therefore authors should highlight the benefits of its ideas and developed technology for nuclear industry and linked services. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Papers describing original work are invited in any of the areas listed above.
Accepted papers, presented at the conference by one of the authors, will be published in the Proceedings of INUDECO. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Both full research reports and work-in-progress reports are welcome.
There will be both oral and poster sessions.
The conference will be held in Slavutych which was constructed in 1987 in the post Chornobyl accident period. There are 25 thousand people living in the city, and most of them are employees of ChNPP and Chernobyl Exclusion Zone enterprises. Administratively, Slavutych is subordinated to Kyiv Region, but geographically it is located in Chernihiv Region in vast forests of Siverschyna, in-between the Desna and Dnipro Rivers 200 kilometers to the north from Kyiv, near the state border of Ukraine with Belarus. The conference location is at the safe distance from the Chornobyl area, so any risks connected with radiation impacts are eliminated.
The city of Slavutych is up to date the youngest one in Ukraine. The expert teams representing eight former USSR republics took part in the design and construction works of the city, therefore they all brought national color and style to every of the 13 neighborhoods of the city. Slavutych is the image of unique, environmentally sustainable, and livable architecture; it is a comfortable home for its residents and an outstanding point on the map for visitors from around the world.
The short history of the one-company city of Slavutych could be divided into three periods. The first one lasted until 2000, when ChNPP was generating electricity and various large projects were realized. The second period started after December 2000, when ChNPP was shut down before the end of its design lifetime and Slavutych residents experienced the first signs of the economic and social crisis, the decline of cultural and social life. At the same time, the city began actively seeking ways out of the situation – operating the special economic zone, and implementing 40 various projects of different directions, which attracted about USD 2.6 million. And the third period started from 2012 and lasts up to these days, when construction of the New Safe Confinement over ChNPP reactor 4 is going to completion.
Nowadays the city is restructuring its economy and searching for its new identity which would not be defined by the catastrophe of the past. Currently, it is going through the process of branding under the concept “Slavutych is the City of New Ideas”. The Slavutych community is committed to development and is ready to carry out bold and concrete actions in order to use the potential of the scientific, social, cultural and creative fields of the city.
